About this role
ConMet is seeking a Warranty Technician I to join our Warranty department. This technical role supports the warranty-return process by receiving, inspecting, documenting, and tracking returned parts. The Warranty Technician performs initial failure analysis and provides accurate, timely information to Warranty, Quality, and Engineering teams.
This is an onsite (not hybrid or remote) job based at ConMet's Technical Center in Vancouver, Washington. This role is open to local candidates; relocation assistance is not available.
Key Responsibilities
• Receive, identify, inspect, document, store, and track returned parts.
• Perform visual inspections, measurements, functional tests, and basic diagnostic analysis.
• Verify serial numbers, date codes, lot numbers, mileage, and other relevant product information.
• Document inspection findings, photographs, test results, and potential failure causes in clear reports.
• Help identify non-warrantable conditions, repeat failures, improper installation, or incomplete claim information and escalate concerns as needed.
• Prepare parts for domestic and international shipment to suppliers, customers, or testing facilities.
• Maintain an organized, safe inspection area and support inventory, equipment, and calibration needs.
• Assist Warranty, Quality, and Engineering teams with investigations and continuous-improvement activities.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of warranty concepts, repair documentation, service procedures, and quality-control practices.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to document findings accurately, clearly, and objectively.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, service manuals, repair orders, and inspection criteria.
• Ability to work safely, follow established procedures, and maintain an organized work area.
Preferred Qualifications
• Technical certificate, associate degree, or vocational training in automotive, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Familiarity with TS 16949, ISO 9000, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Experience with inspection tools, diagnostic equipment, inventory tracking, and domestic or international shipping processes.

Compensation & Benefits
• Hourly rate is paid on a weekly basis in accordance with current payroll practices. This position is eligible for overtime.
• New hires generally start between $20 - $26 per hour. The full hourly range is $20 – $36 per hour. The upper portion of the range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.

• Vacation: Two weeks of vacation per year. Increase to three weeks after five years, four weeks after 15 years and five weeks after 20 years.
