Purchaser/Procurement Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
• Manage daily purchasing activities for local and overseas suppliers. • Ensure sourcing and procurement activities meet requirements in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and availability. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to improve cost, quality, delivery performance, and overall competitiveness. • Lead supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, and performance review processes. • Prepare and maintain supplier agreements, contracts, and price lists. • Support Global Sourcing initiatives and implement sourcing strategies locally. • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Sales, and Global Procurement teams to identify cost-saving and localization opportunities. • Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing to ensure competitive purchasing decisions. • Support customer inquiries related to price, lead time, and sourcing availability.
Technical Sourcing & Localization
• Evaluate technical requirements, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes for sourced components. • Identify suitable suppliers based on manufacturing capability, quality standards, and commercial competitiveness. • Support localization projects by developing local suppliers and reducing dependency on imported components. • Work closely with Engineering teams to identify alternative materials, manufacturing methods, and sourcing strategies. • Participate in supplier visits, technical discussions, and supplier development activities. • Support make-or-buy analysis and cost breakdown activities for manufactured components.
Item & Supplier Data Management
• Maintain accurate item, supplier, and sourcing information in ERP systems (LN, Compass, SAP, etc.). • Ensure sourcing records, supplier documents, and purchasing data are updated and properly maintained. • Support procurement engineering activities and implementation of management decisions.
Cost & Performance Management
• Monitor purchasing costs and identify cost reduction opportunities. • Perform lead-time analysis and implement actions to improve sourcing responsiveness. • Prepare procurement reports and KPI tracking according to company and global requirements. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve supplier performance and procurement efficiency.
Requirements
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, or related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Sourcing, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment. Technical Competencies
• Ability to read and understand technical and manufacturing drawings. • Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as: Machining Casting Forging Welding Fabrication • Experience in supplier sourcing, technical evaluation, and supplier development. • Experience in localization projects is highly preferred. • Familiar with cost analysis, RFQ/RFP process, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Systems & Languages
• Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, LN, Compass, Oracle, or similar. • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and spoken. Personal Attributes
