Kitchen Helper (Part Time)
THE ROLE
Shawnigan Lake School is looking for energetic and enthusiastic Kitchen Helpers to join our awesome kitchen team! This is a part-time position in a fast-paced, friendly environment where you will work with our kitchen team team to provide a first-rate dining experience for our students, staff and other School guests.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Part-time. Shifts could be any of the seven days of the week: morning / afternoon / evening shifts. As our kitchen operates 7 days a week, we welcome candidates with flexible availability.
WAGE & BENEFITS
Our part-time Kitchen Helper positions offer a wage of $21.42 per hour, and the opportunity to join a supportive and welcoming team environment. We also offer professional development opportunities, supporting staff who are interested in pursuing Red Seal, WHMIS, and other culinary training.

JOB DUTIES
Reporting to both the Director of Food Services and the Food Services Manager, the tasks of the Kitchen Helper include:
• Washing glassware, cutlery, plate ware, pots, and pans
• Setting of dining hall
• Sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning duties
• Removal of compost, recycling, and garbage
• Light kitchen prep duties; helping Cooks when needed
• Other kitchen related duties as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, preferably with 1 years’ experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Calm under pressure, self-motivated, and able to work independently while knowing when to ask for guidance
• Strong communicator with a positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset
• Physically fit and able to handle long periods on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs., and the fast pace of a busy kitchen
• FOODSAFE Level 1 and WHMIS certifications are an asset.
