Prep Cook (Full Time)
THE ROLE
Shawnigan Lake School is looking for energetic and enthusiastic Prep Cooks to join our awesome kitchen team! This is a full-time position in a fast-paced, friendly environment where you will work with our kitchen team team to provide a first-rate dining experience for our students, staff and other School guests.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Full-time. Shifts could be any of the seven days of the week: morning / afternoon / evening shifts. As our kitchen operates 7 days a week, we welcome candidates with flexible availability throughout the week.
WAGE & BENEFITS
Our full-time Prep Cook positions offer a wage of $25.71 per hour plus health and dental benefits after 3 months.

JOB DUTIES
Reporting to both the Director of Food Services and the Food Services Manager, the tasks of the Prep Cook include:
• Complete prep work for future scheduled meal services
• Liaise with the Executive Chef, the Food Services Manager, and Cooks on food orders
• Follow proper sanitation practices while completing hot and cold food storage tasks
• Assist Cooks with returns from meal service and assist Kitchen Helpers with dishwashing during meal times
• Complete general cleanup of kitchen equipment and prep areas
WHAT YOU BRING
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, preferably with 1-2 years’ experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Calm under pressure—skilled at multitasking, problem-solving, and keeping service running smoothly
• Solid knowledge of sanitation, food safety, and storage standards (FOODSAFE/WHMIS an asset)
• Strong communicator with great customer service and teamwork skills
• Independent and self-motivated, knowing when to take charge and when to ask for help
• Physically fit and able to handle the demands of the job: long periods on your feet, heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and the hustle of a high-energy kitchen
• Above all, you bring a positive attitude and a passion for contributing to a team that delivers excellence every day

Shawnigan Lake School is a leading independent co-educational boarding school for ages 12-18 (grades 8-12) on Canada’s beautiful west coast.
