Human Resources Specialist

C.A. Murren is transitioning from a traditional group health plan to an ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement) model, where employees select their own coverage on the open private marketplace using a company-provided stipend. We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist who will own this transition and its ongoing administration, serving as the company's benefits expert. The ideal candidate has managed employee health benefits extensively and can speak fluently about plan mechanics with employees at every level. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, must have excellent attention to detail, is able to work independently with little or no supervision, and enjoys the challenge of educating a diverse workforce. The Human Resources Specialist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: ICHRA administration, benefits enrollment and education, employee relations, and benefits compliance and other HR functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serves as the company's subject matter expert on ICHRA structure, stipend allocation, and marketplace enrollment
• Administers the ICHRA program on an ongoing basis, spousal, and dependent coverage tiers
• Additionally administers all group ancillary benefits and maintains on an ongoing basis
• Runs individual benefits consultations with new hires and existing employees, replacing recruiter-led benefits conversations
• Walks employees through benefit options, explaining plan options across carriers.
• Explains out-of-pocket maximums, Tier 1 versus Tier 2 drug coverage, HSA versus FSA options, and co-pay structures across a wide range of plan types
• Organizes annual open enrollment communications and election process
• Assists with maintaining compliance with ICHRA regulations, IRS affordability requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local benefits law
• Acts as the trusted resource for employees, supervisors, and managers on all benefits-related questions
• Maintains accurate benefits enrollment and stipend data across multiple spreadsheets and systems
• Produces regular benefits reporting and analytics for the HR Manager and Director of People Operations
• 70% Benefits administration and other 30% other HR functions.
• Follows all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Operates ethically to protect the assets and image of the company
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as per business needs
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of HR experience, including significant hands-on work managing employee health benefits
• Strong working knowledge of health plan mechanics: deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, drug tiers, HSA/FSA distinctions, co-pay structures
• ICHRA or individual marketplace benefits experience strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, follow-up, problem solving, and creative thinking skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task with attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Self-motivated, team player with excellent people skills
• High level of discretion with confidential material
Requirements:
• Valid driver's license
• Must be a U.S. citizen
