Requirements: We require 10 years of commercial software engineering experience, with a strong focus on back-end development.We require expert-level proficiency in C# and .NET.We require extensive experience designing, building, and supporting scalable APIs, services, and distributed systems.We require proven experience delivering secure, resilient, high-performance software solutions in production environments.We require a strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.We require experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.We require strong experience with relational databases, data modelling, and query optimisation, ideally with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.We require solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern deployment approaches.We require a strong understanding of secure software development principles and application security.We require demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives and influencing engineering direction.We require significant experience mentoring and developing engineers at different stages of their careers.We require strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.We require hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve software delivery, quality, and productivity.Nice to have: experience with Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or similar messaging technologies.Nice to have: knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices.Nice to have: experience operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes.Nice to have: exposure to front-end technologies such as TypeScript, Vue.js, or modern JavaScript frameworks.Nice to have: experience implementing monitoring, observability, and operational tooling. Responsibilities: We design, develop, and deliver complex back-end services, APIs, and distributed systems that power business-critical and customer-facing applications.We lead the technical delivery of strategic initiatives from concept through production deployment.We drive architectural decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, reliability, security, and performance.We champion the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices, leveraging tools such as GitHub Copilot and agentic workflows throughout the software development lifecycle.We translate business requirements into technical solutions, estimates, and delivery plans.We design and implement robust APIs, microservices, and data-driven solutions.We identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges.We conduct code reviews and design reviews to ensure high engineering standards across teams.We define and improve best practices for testing, observability, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.We investigate complex production issues and drive continuous improvement through root-cause analysis.We ensure solutions meet security, compliance, reliability, and performance requirements.We serve as senior technical mentors for engineers across the organization, providing coaching, guidance, and hands-on support to accelerate individual and team growth.We partner with Engineering Managers and technical leaders to help develop engineering capability, career progression frameworks, and technical excellence initiatives.We lead by example in promoting a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.We create and maintain clear technical documentation. We are growing our engineering team and are hiring a highly experienced Senior Back-End Software Engineer to play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient software platforms. This is a senior technical position with a clear path toward a future Principal Engineer role. We work with C#/.NET, Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, GitHub and GitHub Actions, SQL Server and PostgreSQL, REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, Grafana, and AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.
