Responsibilities: We support and maintain essential services that support core mission applications, proactively improving their availability, performance and stability.We find innovative solutions to problems and automate repetitive work wherever possible.We work alongside product teams, advising them on good practice in how to design and build systems.We instrument applications where monitoring is insufficient and use the output to demonstrate improvements on a daily basis.We understand the relationship between software and infrastructure, including what makes systems scalable and resilient to failure.We get the best out of the infrastructure our systems are deployed to.We participate in the wider DevOps/SRE community within our organisation.We use software and systems engineering expertise to reduce manual operations work.We keep support and on-call activity to no more than half of our time.
