About this role

Job summary

You will play a key part in the effective operations of the finance team through providing core support in the running of the department's financial processes.

You will also undertake analysis and appraisal of financial transactions and ensure these are accurately recorded and reflected within ledger systems.

Main duties of the job

You will provide direct support to a Business Support Accountant and play a key role in ensuring work completed is in line with our Trust's Standing Financial Instructions, standing orders and national accounting standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

oA detailed understanding of accounting procedures gained from a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 in an accounting based qualification (Association of Accounting Technicians/Degree Level/T Level etc.) Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Desirable

Drive to develop and continue professional accountancy studies

Experience Essential

Relevant practical experience of working in a finance department Strong knowledge of accounting principles Knowledge of NHS Finance regime

Desirable

Experience of working within Public Sector finance Experience of carrying out training on systems process/procedures

Skills Essential

Ability to plan one's own workload Ability to manage and prioritise competing objectives during busy times Ability to work under pressure to meet ad-hoc, monthly and annual deadlines Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key people both internal and external to the organisation Ability to liaise effectively with other departments to identify and resolve operational issues To be competent in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications Experience of using financial software packages to extract and provide information Knowledge of the health economy
