Monday to Friday , 8am- 4pm, (30minutes unpaid break)
Based at 16/17 Clough road, Colchester Essex, covering all of Essex.
As a Maintenance Craftsperson you will provide support services for the routine and/or non-routine repair, maintenance and operation of a wide range of building services, equipment and systems across the whole range of Buildings and equipment maintained by the Trust. The Maintenance Craftsperson will also perform a range of planned tasks, inputting data into computer based systems and liaise as necessary with Trust Management, nursing, other support staff and contractors to ensure optimal operation of all building services, plant and equipment.
Main duties of the job
Carry out installation, repair and maintenance work on the building fabric and a wide range of mechanical/electrical building services plant and equipment in accordance with relevant Health Technical Memoranda, Water Bylaws, British Standards, Codes of Practice and Legislation. Actively participate in the operation of the Planned Preventative Maintenance system completing worksheets and logbooks relevant to those tasks. Undertake the full range of Maintenance Craftsperson duties, using hand and power tools and test equipment. Understand the workings, being able to diagnose and repair faults, of the mechanical and/or electrical/electronic and/or plumbing systems in buildings and properties belonging to the Trust. To adhere to Health & Safety requirements. To be aware of Trust Policy and Procedures. Awareness and understanding of effective risk assessing.

Remove radiator covers, clean radiators, light diffusers, ventilation grilles and any other general cleaning tasks as and when required. Repair ward and office based equipment. Undertake minor painting tasks as and when required. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of Maintenance Craftsperson. Participate in the Estates Department out of hours on call rota to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to. The post holder will attend and undertake mandatory training to enable the Trust to meet its obligations under its policies and legislation. Observe statutory requirements in particular those related to Health and Safety. To work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment. Liaise with Estates Officer regarding plant or equipment failures and to request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary for repair. Immediately notifies the Estates Officer of any deviation from the regulations. To be able to carry out all of the above without supervision. To use any allocated Trust vehicle for business purposes only (normal working hours and on call) and not for personal or private use. Keep any allocated Trust vehicle clean, tidy and roadworthy at all times.
