Job Title: Formulation Manufacturing TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Formulation Manufacturing Technician is responsible for manufacturing pharmaceutical assemblies in a GMP-compliant environment. This role focuses on performing a variety of manufacturing tasks, including preparation of solutions and production materials, operation of formulation and coating equipment, and accurate documentation of production activities within the Formulation Department. Responsibilities • Perform setup, verification, and teardown of manufacturing equipment before and after processing to ensure safe and efficient operation. • Prepare solutions and production materials according to established procedures and specifications in the Formulation Department. • Carry out manufacturing tasks such as fabrication, in-process testing, and packaging of pharmaceutical assemblies. • Accurately document all production activities in manufacturing lot history records to maintain complete and compliant batch documentation. • Clean and sanitize production equipment and the production area in accordance with GMP and SOP requirements. • Utilize pipettes and micro-weight equipment to measure and handle materials with precision. • Perform basic analysis of data as needed to support process control and product quality. • Formulate polymers and spray coating formulations following defined recipes and process instructions. • Ensure all activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Set up coating machines and perform coating operations on balloon catheters, including inspection and folding of finished devices. • Prepare excipient formulations and spray coating formulations used in drug-device combination products. • Follow aseptic techniques and cleanroom practices to support pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. • Support packaging and sanitization activities as required to maintain product integrity and facility cleanliness. Essential Skills • Minimum of 2 years of medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience in a formulation or similar environment. • Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment with a strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices. • Hands-on experience in cleanroom operations and adherence to aseptic techniques. • Ability to follow and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) in daily work. • Proficiency in using laboratory tools such as pipettes and micro-weight scales for precise measurements. • Experience with assembly, packaging, and sanitization processes in a manufacturing setting. • Ability to perform basic in-process testing and data analysis to support production activities. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping. • Capability to set up, operate, and tear down manufacturing and coating equipment safely and correctly. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. • Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing, specifically within formulation or coating operations. • Familiarity with chemical handling and laboratory practices in a production environment. • Comfort working with polymers, excipients, and spray coating formulations. • Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom/manufacturing environment and follow strict cleanliness protocols. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production setting. • Willingness to work assigned shifts and occasional Saturdays as needed to meet production demands. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a cleanroom/manufacturing environment that supports pharmaceutical and medical device production. Work is performed on structured shifts in the Formulation Department, including a first shift from 2:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and a second shift from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday work as needed. New team members attend an orientation during the first week for 3–4 days starting at 8:00 a.m. The environment involves working with formulation and coating equipment, polymers, excipients, and spray coating technologies, while following strict GMP, SOP, aseptic, and sanitization procedures appropriate for cleanroom operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
