About this role

Job Title: Plumber HelperJob DescriptionThis role supports the installation team on commercial construction projects focused on fire protection systems. You will prepare materials for multiple crews across various job sites and work hands-on with piping, fittings, and related equipment in a fast-paced, field-based environment.Responsibilities

• Prepare and stage materials for all installation crews across all assigned job sites. • Handle and organize pipe, fittings, valves, hangers, heads, and sleeves to support daily installation activities. • Assist with installation work on commercial new construction projects involving fire protection systems. • Read and interpret blueprints to understand layout, routing, and installation requirements. • Operate a Rigid 300 machine to thread and groove pipe as needed for system installation. • Use band saws and other cutting tools to cut, bend, and modify pipe and related materials safely and accurately. • Support work on a variety of fire protection systems, including wet, dry, preaction, deluge, anti-freeze, foam water spray systems, and clean agent systems. • Assist with installation and handling of diesel and electric fire pumps, backflow prevention devices, altitude control valves, hot boxes, ductile-to-plastic transitions, full-flow water meters, and portable fire extinguishers. • Help maintain a clean and organized work area on commercial job sites while adhering to safety standards. • Collaborate with the install and service teams to ensure materials and equipment are ready for inspections, testing, and ongoing service work. Essential Skills

• Basic understanding of pipe, fittings, valves, hangers, heads, and sleeves used in fire protection and piping systems. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, machinery, and construction materials. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for piping layouts and system installation. • Experience operating a Rigid 300 machine for threading and grooving pipe. • Experience using band saws for cutting pipe and related materials. • plumbing, pipefitting, construction, or sprinkler fitting. • Comfort working on commercial construction job sites in a physically demanding environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with fire protection systems such as wet, dry, preaction, deluge, anti-freeze, foam water spray, and clean agent systems. • Familiarity with diesel and electric fire pumps and backflow prevention devices. • Exposure to inspections and UL testing of sprinkler head types. • Understanding of altitude control valves, backflow prevention hot boxes, ductile-to-plastic transitions, and full-flow water meters. • Interest in developing skills in service and inspection work within fire protection. • Willingness to grow into expanded responsibilities and roles over time. You will work in a dirty, rough environment typical of active construction, frequently handling tools, machinery, and heavy materials. Projects include hotels, distribution warehouses, corporate office buildings, and retail facilities. Work involves exposure to various fire protection technologies, including automatic sprinkler systems (wet, dry, preaction, deluge, anti-freeze), foam water spray systems, clean agent systems, diesel and electric fire pumps, backflow prevention devices, altitude control valves, ductile-to-plastic transitions, full-flow water meters, and portable fire extinguishers, as well as UL testing of multiple sprinkler head types. Expect a hands-on, field-based setting where practical work attire suitable for construction sites is required. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leola, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
