Job Title: Fabrication Machine OperatorJob DescriptionJoin a growing local manufacturing team in Indianapolis as a Fabrication Machine Operator on first shift, where you will operate a variety of fabrication machinery to produce high‑quality steel products in a clean, well‑organized job shop environment. Responsibilities • Operate fabrication machinery such as saws, drill presses, benders, and other power tools to manufacture steel products according to specifications. • Read and interpret production documents and basic blueprints to understand job requirements and fabrication details. • Use a tape measure accurately to verify the proper length and width of products and ensure they meet required dimensions. • Perform fabrication tasks including drilling, tapping, marking, cutting, grinding, and punching holes in metal components. • Set up and adjust machines and tools as needed to maintain quality and efficiency during production. • Use basic computer skills to enter production information, track jobs, or access work instructions as required. • Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and consistency, and make adjustments or report issues as needed. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including regular cleanup of tools, equipment, and work surfaces. • Follow safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials. • Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement efforts in fabrication processes. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience operating fabrication machinery such as saws, drill presses, benders, and related power tools. • Ability to read and interpret production documents and basic blueprints. • Proficiency using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions. • Mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and mechanical assembly. • Skill in drilling, tapping, cutting, grinding, and punching holes in metal components. • Basic computer skills to navigate simple software or production systems. • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality steel products. • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience as a machine operator in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. • Background in mechanical assembly or metal fabrication. • Comfort working with power tools and shop equipment. • Ability to work effectively in a small job shop setting and adapt to growing production demands. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, with a practical shop-floor dress code appropriate for operating machinery and handling metal components. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
