Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionThe Material Handler is responsible for accurately kitting components, handling materials throughout the warehouse and production floor, and updating inventory and project information in computer systems. This role ensures that all project materials are prepared, labeled, documented, and delivered to assembly according to strict quality and process standards in a manufacturing and shipping environment. Responsibilities • Handle and move materials throughout the warehouse and production floor in a safe, efficient, and organized manner. • Kit parts for each project by reviewing all pertinent project data and applicable ISO standards to determine specific kitting requirements. • Gather required components, including board fabrication, from multiple sources such as customer-supplied materials, procurement, and internal inventory. • Review all parts against the Kitting Bill of Materials (BOM) to confirm accuracy and completeness before adding them to the kit. • Label each package according to established specifications to ensure clear identification and traceability. • Add and track all kit components using Optel software (Nala) and other designated computer systems. • Identify and resolve kit discrepancies, including missing or short components or items that do not match the BOM, by coordinating with the appropriate internal departments or customer contacts. • Inspect bare boards in accordance with IPC-600 standards, using defined sampling plans to determine the correct quantity for quality control checks. • Print custom labels as required by customer specifications and submit them for peer review and signoff to maintain accuracy and compliance. • Ensure that all components procured internally or pulled from inventory are correctly issued to the appropriate Solomon Work Order. • Release completed and verified kits to Assembly once all issues and discrepancies are resolved. • Monitor the Material Issues Dashboard in Optel to identify and address any material-related issues that arise after kit release. • Use forklifts, cherry pickers, and other material handling equipment to move, store, and retrieve materials safely. • Update inventory records and project information in computer systems to maintain accurate, real-time material status. • Take trays of parts and completed kits to the production floor, ensuring timely delivery to support manufacturing and shipping schedules. • Follow all safety, quality, and process guidelines while working with hand and power tools and material handling equipment. Essential Skills • Experience in material handling and warehouse operations, preferably 3 years in a manufacturing or shipping environment. • Proficiency in kitting parts and accurately updating information in computer systems. • Ability to review and work from project data and Bills of Materials (BOMs). • Experience using Optel software (Nala) or similar systems for material tracking and kitting. • Knowledge of inventory control practices and issuing materials to work orders. • Ability to perform inspections of bare boards in accordance with IPC-600 standards and sampling plans. • Experience operating forklifts, including sit-down forklifts, and cherry pickers. • Ability to use hand and power tools safely for material handling and assembly-related tasks. • Comfort working in a warehouse and assembly environment with material handling responsibilities. • Basic computer literacy for data entry and use of inventory and production software. • Ability to meet ITAR compliance requirements as a U.S. person. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility. • Familiarity with Oracle or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. • Experience supporting assembly operations through accurate material kitting and delivery. • Understanding of ISO-related standards as they pertain to kitting and material control. • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple kits and material flows. • Ability to work effectively with peers for label review, signoff, and issue resolution. • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal departments and external contacts regarding material discrepancies. The facility follows defined quality and process standards, and you will spend time both in the warehouse and on the production floor handling trays of parts and completed kits. The setting supports structured, process-driven work with a focus on safety and accuracy. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richardson, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
