Machine Operator | $21/hr | Carlsbad, CA Job DescriptionThe Machine Operator prepares and finishes 3D printed parts by performing media blasting to remove excess powder and meet defined quality standards. This role follows detailed job sheets and drawings, inspects parts for defects, and supports production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and organization.Schedule:
• Friday - Sunday : 4:00PM - 4:30AM (3, 12-hour shifts) Responsibilities
• Perform media blasting of MJF 3D printed parts according to job sheets, drawings, and specifications. • Remove all excess powder from printed parts to achieve required finishing quality standards. • Compare finished parts against drawings and job sheets to verify features and dimensional requirements. • Visually inspect parts for defects and identify any quality issues or non-conformances. • Reject non-conforming parts and promptly escalate concerns to the Post Process Lead. • Monitor blasting equipment, ensure proper media levels, and report any equipment issues. • Load and unload parts into and out of the media blasting machine throughout the shift. • Follow detailed work instructions and production procedures accurately and consistently. • Support overall production operations while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area. • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain high-quality output. • Work with hand tools and other finishing equipment as needed to complete parts. • Multitask effectively to manage multiple jobs or batches of parts during the shift. • Accomplish assigned tasks independently without constant supervision while adhering to quality and safety standards. Essential Skills
• At least 1 year of production experience. • Ability to read, understand, and execute work according to detailed job instructions and drawings. • Experience with machine operation or sand/media blasting (1 year preferred). • Strong attention to detail when inspecting and finishing parts. • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address quality issues. • Organizational skills to manage work orders, parts, and tools efficiently. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with the team. • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. • Capability to multitask and manage multiple assignments during a shift. • Ability to complete tasks reliably without constant supervision. • Comfort working in a production, manufacturing, finishing, or quality inspection environment. • Proficiency using hand tools for finishing and handling parts. • Basic understanding of quality control principles in a manufacturing setting. • Experience in manufacturing, production, finishing, or quality inspection. • Experience reading and working from blueprints and job sheets. • Previous experience as a finisher or blaster in a production environment. • Familiarity with quality control practices and visual inspection techniques. • Ability to maintain an organized workstation and follow standardized procedures. • Comfort working around media blasting equipment and related tools. You work in the media area, where there is a strong smell; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided to help manage exposure. The position is on a 2nd shift schedule, Friday through Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., requiring comfort with extended weekend shifts. The environment includes blasting equipment, hand tools, and finishing stations, and emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established production procedures. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of CARLSBAD, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
