Job Title: Maintenance MechanicJob DescriptionThis role is a master-level maintenance mechanic position in a high-volume production facility. The mechanic focuses primarily on mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production and packaging equipment, ensuring reliable operation of mixers, pumps, motors, conveyors, and related systems. The position is heavily hands-on, with most time spent diagnosing issues on the floor and supporting both reactive maintenance and capital projects as needed.Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of mechanical components used in production operations. • Diagnose and repair mixers, pumps, motors, conveyors, and related mechanical systems to minimize downtime. • Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes and hydraulic pumps, ensuring proper performance and reliability. • Troubleshoot palletizers, shrink wrappers, and other packaging equipment to maintain consistent output. • Identify and repair pneumatic components and systems used throughout the facility. • Perform reactive maintenance on production equipment, responding promptly to breakdowns and urgent issues. • Work closely with the shift lead to prioritize maintenance tasks and allocate time effectively. • Support capital expenditure (CapEx) projects when required, assisting with installation, modification, and commissioning of equipment. • Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to guide repair and maintenance activities. • Use welding and fabrication skills when needed to repair or modify mechanical parts and assemblies. • Conduct preventive maintenance activities to help reduce unexpected equipment failures. • Maintain and use personal tools effectively and safely while performing daily maintenance tasks. • Document work performed as required and communicate equipment status and issues to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills

• At least 7 years of industrial maintenance experience in a production environment. • Strong mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting skills across pumps, motors, conveyors, and mixers. • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including hydraulic pumps and associated components. • Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems and components. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams. • Hands-on experience with palletizers, shrink wrappers, and other packaging equipment troubleshooting. • Capability to perform preventive maintenance on production machinery. • Basic welding skills for repair and fabrication tasks as needed. • Ownership and effective use of a complete set of personal tools appropriate for industrial maintenance work. • Comfort working primarily in a mechanical troubleshooting capacity, spending the majority of time on equipment issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a mixing environment or food manufacturing facility. • Experience supporting CapEx projects, including equipment installation and modification. • Familiarity with glue, paint, or similar manufacturing processes and their impact on equipment and environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
