Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift OperatorJob DescriptionThis role offers the opportunity to join an innovative, fast-paced start-up environment as a Material Handler and Warehouse Associate. You will use your warehousing and forklift experience to move equipment, products, boxes, and heavy parts throughout a new facility, supporting manufacturing and facilities teams. Responsibilities • Operate sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently to move, lift, and rearrange heavy equipment, products, boxes, and parts throughout the facility. • Handle material movement from point A to point B, ensuring accurate placement and organization of inventory and equipment. • Support manufacturing and facilities teams with coordination of incoming equipment and materials as the new facility is established. • Perform heavy-duty lifting and moving tasks, including handling items of 50+ lbs and above as required. • Assist with inventory-related activities such as tracking, organizing, and maintaining accurate records of materials and parts. • Carry out packing and material preparation tasks to support production, assembly, and shipping needs. • Use basic computer skills and Microsoft applications to update records, communicate with team members, and support warehouse operations. • Contribute to process roll-outs and continuous improvement efforts by identifying issues, proposing solutions, and supporting implementation. • Adapt to changing priorities and schedules in a start-up environment, maintaining productivity and focus in an ever-evolving setting. • Communicate confidently and professionally with team members, maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude. • Work within ambiguity, using problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges in material handling and facility coordination. • Follow all safety procedures and best practices in forklift operation, material handling, and warehouse activities. Essential Skills • Minimum of 2+ years of recent warehousing experience operating forklifts and handling heavy parts and equipment. • Proven ability to operate forklifts safely and effectively, including sit-down forklift operation. • Experience moving, lifting, and rearranging heavy equipment or parts on a regular basis. • Ability to lift and move items weighing 50+ lbs. • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use standard software and input data accurately. • Strong professionalism and a consistently positive attitude in day-to-day work. • Confident communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a proactive, go-getter mindset. • High level of adaptability and comfort working within ambiguity in a dynamic start-up or manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Proficiency in Microsoft applications for documentation, communication, and basic data entry. • Experience working in the early stages of a start-up company or in a rapidly growing organization. • Background or interest in manufacturing or assembly environments. • Hobbies or personal projects involving mechanical work, repairs, or hands-on technical tasks. • Strong inventory handling experience, including organizing, packing, and tracking materials. • Ability to maintain a positive, team-oriented mindset in a fast-moving, evolving workplace. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a non-climate-controlled assembly shop combined with corporate headquarters offices, offering a hands-on, operational setting alongside a modern office environment. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the expectation that employees remain open to some fluctuation in hours due to the evolving nature of a start-up. The culture is very friendly, driven, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and mutual support. You will work around manufacturing and assembly operations, forklifts, heavy equipment, and standard office technology, in an environment that values initiative, adaptability, and continuous improvement. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
