Job summary

The Trust is looking to recruit a full time Associate Director of Health Equity to join and lead our new Health Equity team.

This new and exciting Trust wide post is being recruited as part of our commitment to tacking the health inequalities experienced by the people who use our services. The post-holder working with colleagues across the Trust and system will lead on improving the health and wellbeing of the residents, particularly those living with a serious mental illness. The Associate Director will work alongside the exciting new Consultant in Public Health post that has recently been approved and for which we are also commencing recruitment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a leadership role within the Health Equity Team, and critically, have an influential leadership role across the Trust, and with stakeholders across the system. We have recently developed our first health equity strategy to address the health inequality challenges faced by the communities we serve. You will play a key leadership role in the ongoing delivery of the health equity priorities, which includes suicide prevention, Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework and the Recovery College. You will lead through using your expertise and influencing skills, developing strong and effective relationships with colleagues across the Trust and system.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Master's level qualification or equivalent level of senior leadership experience in a relevant field (e.g. Public Health, Population Health, Health Policy, Health Services Management) Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable

Public Health or improvement qualification (e.g. MPH, FFPH by portfolio/exam, improvement science). Leadership/management qualification

Experience Essential

Significant senior leadership experience delivering health equity, population health or public health programmes in complex organisations and systems Experience of leading system-wide programmes and partnerships and managing senior teams Proven track record of translating policy into strategy and measurable delivery

Skills Essential

Advanced strategic thinking, influencing and programme leadership skills Highly developed analytical skills; able to interpret complex data and present clear, actionable insights

Knowledge Essential

In-depth understanding of health inequalities legislation (e.g. Equality Act 2010 and PSED), NHS policy and provider responsibilities Knowledge of population health management, prevention and public health intelligence
