About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and organised DT Technician to support the Design & Technology department. This role is essential to the effective delivery of practical lessons, ensuring resources, materials and equipment are prepared, safe, and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and monitor consumables, workshop tools, equipment and PPE within the Design & Technology department to ensure students can access a wide range of materials and processesLead the department on all aspects of health and safety, ensuring full compliance at all timesMaintain up-to-date health and safety documentation, including paperwork, training records, machine servicing and safety checksUndertake required health and safety training and carry out regular health and safety equipment checks across all Technology roomsMaintain machinery and equipment in line with health and safety requirements, carrying out minor repairs or replacements to tools, electronics equipment and machines as necessaryConstruct small jigs, moulds and fittings to support practical teaching and learningProvide technical support to teaching staff during lessons and practical activities, responding flexibly to departmental needsMaintain and monitor stock levels, including ordering materials and equipment and receiving and checking deliveriesSupport staff with practical projects as demands ariseAssist with the production and updating of Technology displaysSupport staff in promoting and raising the profile of Design & Technology within and beyond the schoolUndertake any additional duties commensurate with the role, as requested by the Head of Department
What We Are Looking ForExperience working in a practical or workshop-based environment (education desirable but not essential)Strong awareness of health and safety procedures, particularly in a DT settingPractical skills and confidence working with tools, machinery and materialsGood organisational skills and the ability to work independentlyA positive, flexible and team-orientated approachA commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenInterested in Applying?
