Mildmay Oaks is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our established clinical team in Hook, Hampshire. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the assessment, treatment and recovery of patients within a specialist low-secure and rehabilitation setting.
The service supports male and female patients across a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, adult and CAMHS services, and bespoke therapeutic placements.
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical responsibility and take overall responsibility for assessing, treating, and caring for patients. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure care is safe, effective, person-centred and focused on recovery.
You will also:
Take clinical responsibility for patients, leading ward rounds, risk reviews and treatment planning.Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).Lead psychiatric assessments, support admissions and provide specialist clinical advice to the multidisciplinary team.Contribute to clinical governance, service development and strategic planning.Supervise and support junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training.Maintain your own CPD and revalidation requirements.Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover across satellite sites when required.Further information about the role and responsibilities can be found in the attached job description.

Person Specification
Requirements Essential
You will hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register. You will also have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
We are looking for someone with strong clinical knowledge and experience relevant to the speciality, who can work collaboratively within and lead a multidisciplinary team. You will demonstrate a commitment to shared leadership, continuous improvement and high-quality patient care, alongside evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable
Experience working within a similar service line or specialist healthcare setting would be advantageous, particularly within low secure, rehabilitation, learning disability, autism or complex mental health services.
