Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is ready to develop their clinical and leadership skills while making a meaningful difference to the lives of patients and their families.
Working as an autonomous practitioner within our MDT, you will provide high-quality, person-centred OT assessment and intervention to patients with a range of complex needs.
We are committed to supporting the professional development and well being of our staff. You will receive clinical supervision and support, weekly IST and CPD funding/opportunities.
Rotations are 9 months in length and include Care of the Elderly, Critical Care & Surgery, Acute Medicine, Orthopaedics (elective and trauma), ED and Frailty, Palliative Care as well as community rotations with our partners in EPUT.

To have a major role in the advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations, provide functional assessment and deliver individualised treatment plans aimed at reducing the impact of disability and ill health. To undertake a leading role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service provided to inpatients on many wards, by the medical/surgical team on a daily basis. To deputise where necessary for team lead Occupational Therapist. Responsible for the clinical development of the service within the speciality, and provide day to day management of more junior staff, including Band 5 Occupational Therapists and assistants. To work with community teams, for onward referral for patients being discharged home, to facilitate a safe and timely discharge.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc or MSC in Occupational Therapy HCPC registration
Desirable
Membership of Royal College of Occupational Therapy Membership of specialist section groups within the Royal College of Occupational Therapy, or other groups relevant to workplace
Experience Essential
Adherence to the Royal College of Occupational Therapy code of ethics and professional conduct, RCOT and HCPC guidelines To use specialist knowledge to inform practice, and policy/service developments as applicable. Information not exclusively NHS Long term plan, and NICE, RCP and RCOT guidelines At least one year working as an Occupational Therapist within a comparable setting To be able to critically examine and evaluate own performance within the work setting, initiate change to working practice and demonstrate integration of newly acquired knowledge into practice
Desirable
At least two years experience working as an Occupational Therapist within a comparable setting Experience as practice educator to OT students and/or supervision of more junior OT staff
