Job summary
Priority House in Maidstone is seeking a professional, welcoming part-time Receptionist to join our dedicated team.
This is a vital, office-based role operating our main reception and switchboard, often working independently.
As the first point of contact for our busy site, you will interact daily with patients, relatives, visitors, and staff, ensuring everyone receives a warm, high-quality service while keeping our administrative operations running smoothly.
Shift Pattern
28.5 hours per week on a set rota:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 13:00 - 21:00 Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday): 07:00 - 13:00
Main duties of the job
Front of House & Switchboard: Provide a courteous reception service for all patients, visitors, and colleagues. Efficiently manage the central switchboard by handling high-volume incoming calls and transferring them to the correct departments.
Daily Administrative Support: Process outgoing franking mail, sort incoming letters into local department pigeonholes, and assist the Site Admin and Site Supervisor with routine tasks.
Information & Safety Maintenance: Update on-call doctor contact details and site security logs daily. Maintain accurate telephone directories across all departments and report any operational issues promptly.
Facilities & Equipment Coordination: Monitor key office equipment (photocopiers, shredders) to ensure smooth operation, performing basic troubleshooting or arranging engineer call-outs as required.
Team Collaboration & Compliance: Provide short-term cover for colleagues during annual leave or sickness. Maintain health and safety within your working area and strictly adhere to all Trust policies and procedures

Person Specification
Training, Qualifications and Registration Essential
Good general education with GCSE English language. Numeracy skills.
Desirable
Secretarial skills - RSA 2 in typing or equivalent.
Experience Essential
Customer care skills and good verbal communication skills and with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, patients, professionals, relatives and the general public. Experience using Email and updating information on Computer Reception or Admin Experience
Desirable
Spreadsheets - understanding and updating
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Ability to work independently and make decisions but also needs to be a Team player.

Experience of sorting mail and using a franking machine
