Description of Post
The Head of Department is a key member of academic management, responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Department, its academic programmes and resources.
The successful candidate will lead and develop the Department of Construction and all associated programmes in ATU Sligo. These include quantity surveying, property surveying and construction management programmes. Programmes include full-time face-to-face, part time online and apprenticeship modes of delivery. The Head of Department of Construction will work closely with the Head of Department of Civil Engineering also at ATU Sligo to maintain and develop synergy where appropriate.
The successful applicant will form part of the School of the Built Environment Management team along with the Head of School, and will possess the requisite managerial, leadership, and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of all duties.
The School Management Team will work closely across campuses in areas of overlap such as resource, academic and research planning, timetabling, health and safety, promotion, and marketing as well as regional engagement and professional accreditation.
Essential Qualifications
A relevant first or second-class Honours degree in a construction related area, from a recognised awarding authority. Not less than five years’ relevant and acceptable experience in the Construction area. Applicants must have the necessary technical and administrative expertise to lead and manage professional teams to develop and deliver relevant programmes of study which respond to the needs of students, industry and the wider community.
