Funded through the ARC Hub, the project benefits from structured training and mentorship in entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and commercialisation, supporting the translation of advanced research into a deployable, market-ready edge intelligence platform.
The purpose of this role is to conduct a defined programme of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, focusing on the development and validation of a low-variance deep learning framework for joint resource orchestration in 6G edge environments. Your work will be performed in accordance with the university’s research integrity policy and all other relevant institutional policies.
You will contribute to both the technical and commercial objectives of the 6GOrch project. The position provides structured training in commercialisation and industry engagement through the ARC Hub, enabling effective collaboration with industry partners, the development of value propositions, and support for go-to-market strategies for edge AI solutions in the telecommunications sector.
Essential Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field. Experience in designing, developing, and evaluating machine learning or deep learning algorithms, particularly in distributed learning, reinforcement learning, or resource optimisation. Proficiency in software development and programming, including Python and/or C++, and experience with cloud or virtualisation platforms (e.g. OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes). Demonstrable ability to implement and evaluate AI/ML systems in simulated or real-world edge/cloud environments. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, evidenced by publications, technical reports, or conference presentations. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability, with a willingness to upskill in emerging areas relevant to 6G, edge AI, and network orchestration. Experience working independently and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, including AI researchers, network engineers, software developers, and industry partners.
