About this role
Bay Venues …. Haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the Clubfit gyms, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. As the kaitiaki of over 25+ facilities in Tauranga Moana, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences intended to put a smile on the dial of our community.
Here at Bay Venues, we are all about ensuring we create memorable moments - and we do so intentionally through connection and fun with each other and our community. Our values of Manaakitanga (Service), Whakawhanaungatanga (Relationships), Kaitiakitanga (Caring) and He Toi Tangata (Excellence) are lived on the daily as we strive to enhance the wellbeing of the people we serve. It’s no small feat, but we know that when we facilitate connections and collaborate with others, great things will happen!
We are seeking a full-time Aquatic Supervisor to join the team at Baywave Aquatic & Leisure Centre.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on supporting our frontline team and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the venue. You’ll work closely with the Operations Management team to maintain high standards of customer service, venue presentation and compliance.
The role also includes administration and computer-based tasks, coordinating operational requirements, supporting staff development and helping create a positive team culture.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Leading, supporting and developing frontline staff
• Providing coaching, feedback and day-to-day guidance
• Coordinating operational tasks and staff requirements
• Completing administration, reporting and computer-based tasks
• Maintaining high standards of customer service, presentation and compliance
• Supporting the Operations Management team with venue operations
We’re looking for a confident people leader who is organised, approachable and able to bring out the best in others.
You’ll have previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating people, with strong communication skills and the confidence to provide feedback, have difficult conversations and make decisions when required.
Strong computer and administration skills are important, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, learn new systems and stay organised in a busy environment.
Experience in an aquatic, recreation or customer-focused environment would be beneficial, but is not essential. We’re particularly interested in your leadership capability, organisation, initiative and attitude.
A Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) is desirable but not essential. Training can be provided for the right candidate.
We have put together a bunch of perks to support our culture of connection and fun. Ones that reinforce that we are part of the awesome leisure and events industry, and all the magic that comes along with that. Our benefits include:
• a gym membership to our Clubfit Gyms,
• access to our five aquatic facilities,
• subsidised speedway passes and generous discounts on our programmes, services and merchandise,
• heavily subsidised coffee at our on-site cafes,
• access to a range of development opportunities through our Learning & Development programme
So why not join us? We have the right purpose to fuel meaningful careers, the right attitude to support work life balance, and the right leadership to foster an amazing culture. No matter your age and stage you may be, we are an inclusive bunch all driven by our purpose of Spaces to Belong | Experiences to Connect. Come on – take the punt; you won’t regret it!
