Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a highly specialised CRM physiologist to join our dynamic and supportive team. In Somerset we look after over 6,500 CRM patient across a variety of manufacturers and have forged the way for a focus on remote follow up. A fast paced and dynamic environment ensures an interesting case load and collaborative approach to patient care.
A focus on developing skills and accreditation maintenance including support for equivalence with proactive response to change in line with local and national policy.
There is opportunity for participation in research and service development as well as being a training centre for both students and newly qualified staff.
Main duties of the job
Independent/lead practitioner in CRM follow up (brady and tachy devices)
Independent/lead practitioner in CRM implant (including CSP and complex devices)
Manage own case load across all home monitoring sites (all manufacturers)
Triage of patients including IP, symptomatic patients and managing own workload
Escalate abnormal findings appropriately
Key knowledge of algorithms and apply to relevant programming changes
Providing advice and guidance to patients, community and other hospital services (eg. MRI, radiotherapy)
Deactivation of devices including liaising with families where appropriate
Attendance of pacemaker user group, MDT and case presentation as required
Interpretation of MDAs and participation in establishing a management plan for the affected patients
Accurate record keeping in adherence to NICOR guidance
Supervision of junior staff and students

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder will work as an advanced-level healthcare science practitioner within the field of invasive cardiac physiology, performing and interpreting complex invasive cardiovascular investigations, interventions, and long-term device monitoring services for elective, urgent, and emergency patients ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
The post holder will lead on service improvement, contribute to research and development, and provide specialist training and supervision to junior colleagues. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, clinical expertise, and decision-making responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of patient care

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree in clinical physiology healthcare science with additional training and knowledge to masters degree level e.g. BHRS or IBHRE or EHRA certification
Desirable
Evidence of teaching i.e. Delivery of in-house training to students, workplace colleagues. Mentoring qualification HCPC registration as a clinical scientist
Experience Essential
Significant proven independent CRM device experience including implant with autonomous reporting Significant proven experience across a broad range of cardiac diagnostic and intervention procedures Experience of audit and data reporting
