About this role

Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring and enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker to join our specialist Nutrition Team on a permanent basis (0.6 WTE). Based within the Intestinal Failure service, you will work Monday to Friday, 08:0016:00 (0.6WTE), supporting patients who require parenteral nutrition. This role sits at the heart of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, offering a blend of clinical and nonclinical responsibilities that contribute directly to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who enjoys working as part of a team and can use their own initiative. While experience in this speciality is desirable, it is not essential, full support and training will be provided to help you develop new skills and confidence within this unique clinical area. Our Intestinal Failure Nutrition Team is a highly skilled, compassionate team dedicated to supporting patients who have intestinal failure, we care for both inpatients and outpatients. As a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker, you’ll be part of a specialist service that combines excellent clinical standards with a genuinely warm, team focused atmosphere. We work collaboratively across disciplines, and you’ll be supported by experienced nurses, dietitians and clinicians who are committed to helping you develop your skills and confidence.

What you will bring to the role Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with patients, families and carers Confidence in supporting nurses during clinics and with follow up tasks Phlebotomy skills or a willingness to be trained The ability to manage office based duties, including patient communication and excellent documentation skills Confidence liaising with external homecare companies in a professional and timely manner A caring, patient centred approach to supporting individuals who have intestinal failure and receive parenteral nutrition Willingness to assist with clinical tasks such as patient training for home parenteral nutrition and CVAD dressing support Good organisational skills to balance both clinical and administrative responsibilities The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to team goals Initiative, reliability and a proactive attitude towards learning within a specialist service About Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust Our values are part of what make us different from other trusts, so we see this as a strength, as well as a responsibility. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in Health Level 3, Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent experience. The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the jobholder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment. Commitment to undergo training and education as required.

Desirable

Basic skills Maths and English Level 2 (equivalent of GCSE 4-9 (A*-C)).

Experience Essential

Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering personal and clinical care. Utilisation of planning and organisational skills Insight into roles responsibilities of post. Basic IT skills.

Desirable

Significant experience of working within the speciality or department.
