Job summary
The Delivery Suite Manager should be an expert in the planning, assessment, and delivery of care within the intrapartum setting (both high and low risk) and have proven strong clinical leadership skills. The post holder will ensure the delivery of a high standard of safe, effective, personalised and evidence-based care on Delivery Suite. You will achieve this through effective management of staff, finances, and resources and efficient monitoring and improvement of standards - ensuring all local and national policies are adhered to.
Main duties of the job
Takes managerial and professional responsibility and accountability for the effective management and development of areas of responsibility on a shift basis.
Manages Delivery Suite complaints, developing, implementing and reviewing action plans to improve practice and service delivery.
Empower and support Band 7 Delivery Suite Coordinators to undertake their roles effectively through mentoring, professional development and delegation of appropriate managerial responsibilities. Ensure clear accountability, regular feedback and ongoing support to facilitate leadership growth and operational excellence.
Provide oversight of roster planning and workforce deployment across the delivery suite, ensuring staffing rosters are safe, efficient and responsive to service demand, patient acuity and skill mix requirements. Maintaining oversight of roster changes and ensuring staffing levels are maintained to meet service need.
Support compliance with CQC standards, Ockenden recommendations, and National Maternity Safety Programmes.

Qualifications Essential
Registered Midwife with Current NMC registration Committed to professional development.
Desirable
Professional Midwifery Advocate. Recognised Leadership qualification.
Knowledge Essential
Ability to demonstrate evidence-based knowledge and applications to clinical practice. Knowledge of risk management, clinical governance and the relevance to practice. Knowledge and understanding of local policies and national drivers in maternity care. Knowledge of Safeguarding adults and children, and the application to practice Knowledge of statutory regulations governing midwifery.
Skills/Experience Essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage conflict constructively. Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills, calm and measured responses to situations. Recent leadership/management experience Significant post registration experience of NHS midwifery, particularly intrapartum care.

Demonstrates a commitment to supporting and promoting physiological birth and positive birth experiences. Involvement in the implementation of service development. Participation in Audits. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team at operational and strategic level. Previous involvement in the development, implementation and of clinical guidelines and standards.
