School Health Advisor - Band 4

1 x 22.5 hrs TTO - permanent

Are you a dynamic and motivated healthcare worker looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has become available to join our passionate School Nurse Team as a School Health Advisor to support the delivery of early help and public health interventions to children and young people in Stockport.

School nursing is a universal public health service for children and young people of school age encompassing the Healthy Child Programme 0-19 (2016). This is a nationally developed evidenced based programme which is available to all children and aims to ensure that every child gets the good start they need to lay the foundations of a healthy life.

Stockport School Nursing Services are part of the Women, Children and integrated Care Business Group of Stockport Foundation Trust, and is also part of a wider integrated children's service with Stockport Council called 'Stockport Family' which is an improved way of working with children and families in Stockport. The service includes health visiting, early help and social care services.

You will be given a full training support package to undertake this role

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Stockport Family Service to promote the health, learning and development of children through a variety of interventions and strategies delivered in the home and community settings such as schools, family hubs and health centres work with partners to ensure that services are coordinated and that groups/activities provided will meet the needs of school age children and their families

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications Essential

NNEB/diploma in childcare (CACHE)/HNC in childcare/Level 3 BTEC/Assistant practitioner/NVQ Level 3/Equivalent experience

Desirable

NHS care certificate

Knowledge Essential

In depth knowledge of child development and up to date knowledge of developmental assessment tools Knowledge of current evidence based interventions Evidence of continuous professional development Awareness of child safeguarding and knowledge of policies

Desirable

Knowledge of positive parenting programmes Knowledge and understanding of the HCP

Experience Essential

Experience of working with school age children and ability to supervise children on a group basis Multi disciplinary team working

Desirable

Experience of working with children who have special educational needs Experience of using evidence based interventions to support child development Experience of participatory work with parents/carers Experience of using evidence based parenting programmes

Skills and Abilities Essential
