Job summary

Speech and Language Therapist Band 5As a result of investment, we are looking for a full time, Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join the integrated neuro therapy team in Croydon.

The post is based on the acute stroke unit at Croydon University Hospital. Training and support will be given by the Band 7 and Band 6 SLT's on the unit. You will work collaboratively as a member of the well established multi disciplinary team. We also provide FEES and VF services.

Main duties of the job

1. To provide a high quality speech and language therapy service to adults in hospital, who have had a stroke.2. To manage and prioritise a defined caseload independently.3. To assess and diagnose communication and swallowing disorders and make appropriate clinical decisions, following assessment.4. To be able to reflect on all aspects of the adult's communication and to identify appropriate strategies to enhance communicative effectiveness.5. To communicate complex and sensitive condition related information from assessment to clients, carers, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professionals6. To accurately document and maintain high standard of clinical notes.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ TRAINING Essential

oRecognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification HCPC registered as SLT

Experience Essential

oRelevant experience at undergraduate /post graduate level working as an SLT with people who have had a stroke

Knowledge and Understanding Essential

Knowledge of national guidance and policies relevant to stroke Knowledge of assessment tools and Speech therapy interventions relevant to stroke

Skills Essential

Flexible and adaptable to patients' needs and those of the service Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Other Essential
