Job summary

Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust - Locally Employed Doctor - CT3+ in Anaesthetics

The end date of this contract will be the 02nd February 2027, regardless of when the successful candidate is appointed.

Applications are invited for a LED role in Anaesthetics at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, operating at least an CT3 or equivalent level.

This post will be based at Harrogate District Hospital. The successful applicant will join the existing 23 Consultants and 16 SAS doctors in Anaesthesia.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic and enthusiastic anaesthetic department that has full ACSA accreditation and an ICU recently rated as outstanding by the CQC.

Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.

To provide a comprehensive anaesthetic service to the elective lists for all specialties.

To undertake pre-operative assessment, obtain consent for anaesthetic procedures and prescribe pre-medication.

Understand the implications of critical illness and provide appropriate anaesthetic management for medical and surgical critically ill patients.

To participate in the resident on-call rota across acute theatres and obstetrics

Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.

To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME) and mandatory training.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBChB or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable

FRCA or equivalent

Experience Essential

Previous anaesthetic experience with sufficient experience to undertake solo clinical practice with distant consultant supervision in theatres, equivalent to ST3 experience. Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.

Desirable

Experience of working in the NHS. Previous anaesthetic experience with sufficient experience to undertake solo clinical practice with distant consultant supervision in critical care.

Experience Essential

One year post registration experience in Anaesthesia. Current experience in Critical Care Medicine

Desirable

Experience in subspecialty complementary to the department
