**Internal Applicants Only**

The post holder will work as part of the critical care team to provide compassionate, high quality care to patients, service users, carers and families. The role involves delivering direct and indirect patient care within clearly defines boundaries of competence, using initiative appropriately and working without constant direct supervision.

The post holder will support the registered nursing staff within the critical care setting, assisting with clinical procedures, investigations and the preparation, use and cleaning of specialist equipment. They contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and therapeutic environment, ensuring patient privacy, dignity and respect at all time.

The post holder will act as a role model in line with trust values and behaviours, work collaboratively the multi-disciplinary team, advocate for patients, diverse needs and deliver a high standard of service. The role includes maintaining health and safety standards, infection prevention and control, stock management and a commitment to ongoing personal development and reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

At all times treat patients, service users, families, visitors and colleagues with dignity and respect.

Deliver compassionate care, exercising discretion and behaving in a manner consistent with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust's KITE values.

To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.

Work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with other members of the care team to meet holistic needs of patients and carers.

To establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with the multi-disciplinary team, respecting the equality and diversity of every person they come in to contact with.

Work in line with the Trust policies and procedures and within the scope of competence, undertaking mandatory training and essential skills training as identified for the role.

Contribute to the development of the clinical area, through contribution of new ideas to improve patient care / experience and escalating concerns appropriately.

Achieve and maintain core and specific competencies as per the National Care Certificate and agreed by the manager.

Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

Assist with the induction of new Health Care Support Workers, and supervises work of students and junior staff.

To participate in own performance development reviews and appraisals.

Participate in audit activities at the request of the Ward manager / Department lead.

Attend and participate in team/ward/department meetings.

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (RQF accredited) or NHS England accredited Care Certificate, with evidence of full completion of the knowledge and work-based assessments / relevant experience Moving and Handling Certificate Basic Life Support Certificate Able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting Previous experience in a health care setting
