Job summary
We are looking for a reliable part time admin assistant to join our friendly practice team. The hours are 20 hours per week over 5 days. Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am-1pm, Tuesday & Thursday 1pm-5pm.
Main duties of the job
The role involves providing efficient and professional administrative support within a healthcare environment. Key responsibilities include processing patient referrals, maintaining accurate patient records, managing confidential information, and handling incoming and outgoing communications. Strong organisation, communication, attention to detail and confidentiality are essential for the role.

We are a friendly GP training practice with over 11,000 patients. The team is made up from 6 GP partners, 1 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, 1 Practice Manager, 1 Assistant Practice Manager, 5 Administrative assistants, 9 Receptionists

Processing and managing patient referrals accurately and efficiently.Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with confidentiality and data protection requirements.Liaising with hospitals, community services, healthcare professionals and patients to coordinate information and services.Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, telephone calls and electronic communications.Handling sensitive and confidential patient information with professionalism and discretion.Providing administrative support to clinicians and the wider healthcare team.Ensuring administrative tasks are completed accurately and within required timescales.

Qualifications Essential
Good standard of general education GCSE Mathematics C or above GCSE English C or above
Experience Essential
Good administrative and organisational skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining patient records. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with patients, clinicians, hospitals and community services. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems, email and electronic record systems. Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Professional, reliable and respectful approach when dealing with patients and colleagues. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data protection and information governance in a healthcare setting. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with busy workloads or sensitive situations.
Desirable
Previous experience working in a healthcare, NHS, GP practice or hospital environment. Experience processing referrals and managing patient information. Experience using electronic patient record systems. Knowledge of Emis Web
