About this role

Job Title: ElectricianJob DescriptionThis role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in accordance with local and national electrical codes. You will plan and execute electrical installations to ensure safety, reliability, and ease of maintenance while working from diagrams, blueprints, and specifications. The position requires journeyman-level electrical skills, occasional application of mechanical knowledge for related equipment, and strict adherence to established safety procedures and work schedules. Responsibilities • Install new or modified electrical installations in compliance with local and national electrical codes. • Plan electrical installations to minimize waste of materials, ensure access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring. • Interpret and follow diagrams, blueprints, and specifications for electrical projects. • Apply journeyman electrician-level skills in the installation and repair of electrical systems and associated equipment. • Use mechanical knowledge as needed to diagnose and support repair needs for air-conditioning, refrigeration, and other related equipment. • Perform all assigned work tasks and comply with work schedules, attendance requirements, and departmental rules. • Complete related work as assigned or as specified in project drawings, customer specifications, or project requirements. • Manage the cleanliness and organization of the electrical shop and main facility. • Travel to job sites as needed to perform field service work. • Maintain all work sites in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. • Demonstrate safe work habits and ensure proper care, use, and storage of tools and equipment. • Complete all required documentation and paperwork accurately and on time. • Work safely from all types of step ladders, frame ladders, and extension ladders of various sizes. • Strictly adhere to all safe work procedures outlined in the employee handbook, including Hazard Communication (Haz-Com), Lockout/Tagout, and Confined Space policies. • Attend required educational and training classes to maintain and enhance technical and safety knowledge. Essential Skills • Journeyman-level electrical skills in the installation and repair of electrical systems. • Strong working knowledge of all phases of electrical work in accordance with the latest edition of the American Electricians’ Handbook. • Thorough understanding of local and national electrical codes. • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications. • Proficiency in bending conduit using hand benders and mechanical methods. • Experience working with 480V electrical systems. • Field service experience, including travel to job sites as needed. • Ability to maintain clean, organized work areas and facilities. • Demonstrated commitment to safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment. • Ability to work safely from step ladders, frame ladders, and extension ladders. • Willingness and ability to comply with all safety policies, including Haz-Com, Lockout/Tagout, and Confined Space procedures. • Capability to complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Journeyman card or equivalent journeyman-level qualification. • Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Familiarity with environmental and sound-attenuating packaging for on-site power generation and ancillary equipment. • Comfort working with heavy-duty, industrial-ready units and related systems. • Willingness to attend ongoing training and educational classes as required. Work EnvironmentThe work environment focuses on environmental and sound-attenuating packaging for on-site power generation and ancillary equipment, ranging from cost-effective, skintight, factory-like enclosures to heavy-duty, industrial-grade units and fueling systems. You will work around industrial equipment and electrical systems in both shop and field settings. The role offers multiple shifts, including a first shift typically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a second shift typically from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with overtime as needed. Work involves using ladders of various types and sizes, handling tools and equipment, and adhering to strict safety policies such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Confined Space procedures. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and consistent use of appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
