Pipe Welder - Grand Rapids, MI
• 1st Shift M-F • $30.00-42.00 per hour • Competitive Company Benefits Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to add to our growing team in West Michigan. This role involves performing high-quality pipe and structural welding in a busy fabrication shop, supporting overflow production from another facility. You will work primarily with MIG welding on pipe and structural components, ensuring accurate and reliable welds that meet production and quality standards while following blueprints and fabrication plans.Responsibilities
• Perform MIG welding on pipe and structural components in a fabrication shop environment. • Support overflow pipe welding production from another plant by completing assigned welds accurately and on time. • Interpret and follow blueprints and fabrication drawings to ensure correct dimensions, layouts, and weld specifications. • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and related tools in a safe and efficient manner. • Complete and pass a weld test, which may take upwards of 2 or more hours, to demonstrate welding proficiency. • Inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements, making adjustments as needed. • Collaborate with fabrication team members to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules. • Follow all safety procedures and shop guidelines while working around machinery and welding areas. • Assist with general fabrication tasks as needed, including fitting, positioning, and preparing materials for welding. Essential Skills
• Proven experience as a MIG welder, specifically on pipe and structural components. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately. • Hands-on experience with pipe welding in a fabrication shop environment. • Strong fabrication skills, including fitting and preparing materials for welding. • Capability to successfully complete a weld test that may take 2 or more hours. • Commitment to safe work practices in a shop and welding environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with flux core welding is a plus. • Experience with stick welding is a plus. • Prior experience working with a variety of welding machinery and shop equipment. • Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset. • Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team. The setting involves hands-on work with metal components, welding tools, and fabrication layouts throughout the shift. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
