LOCATION OF POSITION: District wide REPORTS TO: Superintendent JOB GOAL:
• Maintain the integrity of the Curriculum Cycles.
• Inform teachers of current curricula based on existing district, state and national standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate curriculum meetings (department meetings) including taking notes and disseminating them to department members and appropriate administrators.
• Research, disseminate and discuss current trends/best practices in conjunction with the appropriate cycle year.
• Provide curriculum leadership and assistance for new staff; assist in the development and dissemination of orientation/instructional materials for new teachers in their assigned curricular area.
• Make curriculum recommendations/revisions to the Assistant to the Superintendent in conjunction with the appropriate cycle year.
• Make recommendations to the Professional Development Team for Professional Development in the appropriate subject/curricular area.
• As an outcome of the appropriate cycle year, make recommendations for new/supplemental materials, including major equipment costs and life expectancies along with coordination of departmental supplies.
• Make budgetary recommendations to the Assistant to the Superintendent during the appropriate cycle year(s).
• With approval from the Superintendent and/or his/her designee, attend year one (research) and three (evaluation) conferences/workshops in conjunction with the curriculum cycle.
• Provide status report to the curriculum committee during year three of the cycle, as needed.
• Meet periodically with other Subject Area Coordinators, under the direction of the Assistant to the Superintendent.
• Participate in the interview process at the discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee when hiring personnel for a specific curricular area.
• Assist in the development of the master schedule at the secondary level, helping to determine sections and teaching assignments.
• Provide leadership in the curriculum mapping initiative especially through the development of “master maps”.
• Coordinate assessment reviews, by course and grade level, to include mid-terms and final exams.
• Assist in the development and coordination of the content for the department and/or grade level web page.
