Job Title: Technician Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Job Role: Grounds Maintenance Funding Source: Local Department/School: Grounds Operations Pay Grade: OS 5 Function: Support Services Reports to: Director of Grounds and Maintenance HR Date Approved: August 2026 HR Date Revised: SUMMARY: Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the District. Maintain athletic fields. • Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively and efficiently for the purpose of supporting and contributing to high student achievement.

• Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.

• Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Projects

• Install and repair fences, concrete and asphalt structures, bleachers, etc.

• Operate and maintain athletic field painting equipment.

• Remove graffiti and clean grounds of debris as needed.

• Remove ice from pavement and entries to buildings, spread ice melt and/or sand when conditions warrant.

• Load and unload furniture and other materials, transport to designated locations, utilizing a variety of equipment as needed.

• Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the District.

• Assist other departments as needed.

Safety

• Keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.

• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.

• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.

• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.?

• Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.

• Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.

• Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

• Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:

• Completion of sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow directions

• Valid Texas driver's license with a record of safe driving

Experience:

• Successful related experience

Other:

• Must be 18 years of age or older

Posture:

• Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Motion:

• Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting:

• Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment:

• Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
