Placement Specialist is essential to the team as they locate the most appropriate placement for children in the child welfare system and provides support to relative and kinship homes who provide placement for children in the child welfare system.

• Communicate with providers, utilize time management skills and team collaboration skills.
• Have an overall understanding of instructions and procedures given by a supervisor, administrator and overall department.
• Provide interviewing tactics to collect and elicit essential information, communicating to receive and relay information, listening to and understanding information received.
• Learn and apply methods and procedures of human services resource development; learn and apply agency policies, procedures, programs and philosophy; protect confidential information; interact with community leaders; apply problem solving techniques to a variety of different circumstances; assess customer needs to provide proper services and financial assistance; manage multiple files and records; collect and maintain data and analyze for trends; prepare written case histories and reports.
Hire Rate: $19.473 per hour – non-exempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Dress Attire: Business Casual Location: Statewide pending space availability
Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in social work, sociology, counseling, guidance, psychology, child development or related field and experience in resource development, eligibility determination or contract monitoring within a public service organization. OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the fields listed above.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Children and Family Service or Foster Care experience
• Computer comprehension skills, understanding Microsoft O􀆯ice applications.
• Experience with foster care system and placements and/or previous experience with Child Placing Agencies and/or previous experience with placing youth who are state wards.
• Customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in human/social/behavioral sciences, policies, and procedures is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: the principles and practices of social work; federal and State laws, regulations and guidelines concerning services delivery; the principles of individual and group behavior; the techniques of counseling; community and service organizations.
Skill in: interviewing to collect and elicit essential information, communicating to receive and relay information, listening to and understanding information received, using a keyboard.
Ability to: learn and apply the methods and procedures of human services resource development; learn and apply agency policies, procedures, programs and philosophy; protect confidential information; interact with community leaders; apply problem solving techniques to a variety of different circumstances; assess customer needs to provide proper services and financial assistance; manage multiple files and records; collect and maintain data and analyze for trends; prepare written case histories and reports.
