We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for experienced Healthcare Support Workers to join North Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Foundation Trust, as part of our newly merged organisation delivering integrated care across acute and community services.
We are recruiting Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Workers to work across a range of inpatient wards at Warrington and Halton Hospital. This is a multi-area advert, enabling candidates to be considered for a variety of clinical environments and matched to the area that best suits their skills, experience and career ambitions.
As a Band 3 Senior HCSW, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, working alongside registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will bring experience, confidence and leadership within the HCSW role, acting as a role model and supporting more junior colleagues within the team.
Previous experience in an acute hospital setting is preferred.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality direct patient care, supporting patients with activities of daily living such as personal care, nutrition and mobility
Undertake and record clinical observations (e.g. NEWS2), escalating concerns appropriately to registered staff
Support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care, working under the direction of registered nurses
Assist in the delivery of clinical procedures within competency (e.g. ECGs, venepuncture, catheter care where trained)
Contribute to the admission, transfer and discharge processes, ensuring patients are supported throughout their pathway
Act as a role model, promoting high standards of care, professionalism and compassionate practice
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and records
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive patient experience
Support a safe ward environment, adhering to infection prevention, moving and handling, and safeguarding procedures
Contribute to maintaining stock levels, equipment readiness and general ward organisation
Participate in training, competency development and ongoing learning, supporting both personal development and that of others
Assist in ensuring the ward meets quality, safety and patient experience standards
