Job SummaryThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention; enforcing fire prevention code; conducting fire safety inspections; and examining construction site safety plans and fire protection systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the below listed certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. To qualify, the incumbent must possess the following IFSAC/PROBOARD certifications at time of application: Airport Firefighter, Firefighter I and II, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Awareness, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Inspector I. (Applicants must attach all certificate copies with application) certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06M.

Major DutiesPerform walk-through surveys of contractor projects to ensure fire protection safety requirements are being implemented.Examine fire protection system plans and specifications to ensure they are compatible with building and site plans.Conduct fire prevention inspections to ensure the life safety conditions are in compliance with fire safety regulations.Conduct formal classroom training for fire marshals and building wardens on fire prevention and fire safety procedures to comply with requirements.Educate the public on potential emergency safety measures.
