As Earth observation missions continue to demand higher-resolution sensors and increasingly intelligent payloads, the need for a new generation of onboard processing capabilities is growing rapidly. Processing data directly in space enables faster decision-making, reduces bandwidth requirements, and unlocks entirely new mission concepts. At S&T, we are developing the next generation of onboard processing platforms that combine high-performance electronics, advanced software, and AI to bring these enhanced capabilities into orbit as quickly as possible. As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of the mechanical development lifecycle of our first-generation onboard computing platform. From early concepts and mechanical architecture through detailed design, implementation, integration, and validation, you will ensure that our products meet the demanding mechanical and environmental requirements of space applications. Senior Mechanical Engineer Main responsibilities You will work at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, thermal management, vibrations/shock and space systems. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams-including Systems Architects, Embedded Systems Engineers, Electronics Design Engineers, Space Systems Engineers, and FPGA Engineers-you will help turn complex technical requirements into robust, high-performance products. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership and influence.
