R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a Track Superintendent to join our team in Dayton, TX.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for directing track inspections and maintenance forces to ensure safe train operations.
• Oversees track forces to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance.
• Undertakes special projects as assigned.
• Ensures track meets all inspections requirements for RJC and FRA.
• Ensures safe and efficient operation within each area assigned.
• Communicates and coordinates with other railroads when necessary to facilitate efficient work as needed for various operations.
• Ensures the safety of employees performing inspections / maintenance related activities on RJ Corman Railroads.
• Maintains close communication with all operating divisions to discuss and address daily issues and/or concerns as necessary.
• Maintains appropriate staffing levels at all locations to ensure all divisions are capable of providing necessary service to all customers.
• Maintains professional relationship with FRA personnel and ensures that employees adhere to all FRA related rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
• Prefer related work experience of at least 3-5 years involving track inspection, repair, and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of FRA rules and regulations required.
• Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
• Should be multi-task oriented and possess good analytical skills.
• Computer application skills required, and previous supervisory type experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Able to perform physical strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force.
• Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledgehammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force.
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.
Environmental Conditions:
• 24/7 availability required.
• May be required to respond to operational needs outside of normal working hours.
• Work is performed in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
• Performs some duties in job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to weather elements; and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
