About this role

Job Title: Travel MachinistJob DescriptionThe Travel Machinist sets up and operates CNC machining centers, manual and CNC mills, manual lathes, and related equipment to produce precision, large-scale parts in a timely and accurate manner. This role requires independent setup, tooling changes, and quality inspection, with a focus on tight tolerances and working from detailed blueprints in a high-volume, industrial machine shop environment.ShiftFriday - Tuesday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM

• Additional days/hours will be required for overtime, for a total of 60 hours per week Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Machining Centers, Manual and CNC Mills, Manual and CNC Lathes in order to produce precision parts in a timely manner • Set up could take 2-3 hours of the shift or it could be set up from the person before them • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machine • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Grinders. • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges • Read and understand blueprints and gauging sheets • Operate hoist in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill • Fork truck would bring all of their parts to them, not moving their own material • Tool crib is delivered to the station as well • Using gauges and checking quality on your own part every piece Large scale parts • Brand - wide range of brands • 5 axis wester bennet, 3 or 4 Toshiba machines, UG machines • 2/3/4 axis • 3 new machines • 5 axis

• Controls • Fanuc/Siemens

• Setups • 1-2 a day • Cycle Times - 1 hour - 4 hours depending on the machine

• Perform own quality checks - They have a check sheet within plex which is their computer program Machinist are required to check every part • Blueprints • Size of part: all of the machines have hoists cast iron/rolled steel/carbon steel • Essential Skills

• CNC Machining on lathes and mills • Ability to independently setup the machine • Ability to independently change tooling • Working with Large scale parts • Blueprint reading • Quality tools - micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauge, and outside diameter gauges • Ability to hold tight machining tolerances +/-0.001" 0.004 - .005 of an inch tolerances Additional Skills & Qualifications

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Springfield, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
