Job Title: Welder/Fitter (Day Shift)Job DescriptionThis role focuses on fabricating metal skids and structural components that support custom-engineered electrical control panels and power distribution systems for energy, industrial, and critical infrastructure applications. You will independently read blueprints, perform fit-ups of structural steel channels, and complete high-quality welds using Flux Core and MIG processes on carbon steel, ensuring precise and durable assemblies.Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal skids and structural assemblies that support electrical cabinets and power distribution systems. • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine dimensions, layouts, and welding requirements. • Perform accurate measurements using measuring tapes and related tools to ensure proper fit and alignment of components. • Carry out structural fit-ups of steel channels and other materials prior to welding. • Execute Flux Core welding, and occasionally MIG welding, primarily in 2G and 3G positions on carbon steel. • Fit and weld your own work pieces independently, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. • Work with various thicknesses and materials, including 3/8" carbon steel and 11-gauge and 14-gauge sheet metal, as needed. • Apply gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) techniques where appropriate. • Contribute to a fast-paced production environment by meeting daily output goals and maintaining organized work practices. • Collaborate with adjacent teams such as machine operators, fabricators, quality control, and material handlers to support smooth production flow. • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to shop safety guidelines. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support efficiency and quality in fabrication and welding activities. Essential Skills

• At least 5+ years of structural welding and structural fitting experience. • Strong proficiency in Flux Core welding, particularly in 2G and 3G positions on carbon steel. • Demonstrated experience fabricating and welding skids or similar structural platforms. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately. • Proficient use of measuring tape and related tools for precise layout and fit-up. • Hands-on experience with 3G welding on carbon steel materials, including 3/8" thickness. • Capability to independently fit and weld assigned work pieces from start to finish. • Solid understanding and practical application of gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) processes. • Experience working in a fast-paced production shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• MIG welding experience, including gas metal arc welding (GMAW) on various steel materials. • 4G welding experience on structural components or plate. • Extensive experience in welding and fitting beyond basic structural work. • Experience working with 11-gauge and 14-gauge sheet metal. • Familiarity with stainless steel welding processes. • Ability to collaborate effectively with welders, fabricators, machine operators, quality control, and material handlers in a production setting. The shop is non–climate controlled with open bay doors and numerous fans to maintain airflow, supporting a busy and fast-paced production environment. Day shift welders work alongside a small team of welders, adjacent to a machine shop staffed with machine operators, fabricators, quality control personnel, material handlers, and leadership, with powder coating operations planned in the future. The standard attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses, in line with safety and shop standards. Night shift operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., typically working 11 hours per day, 5–6 days per week, reflecting the high production demand and opportunities for substantial hands-on experience. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77034. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
