Responsibilities: We design engaging educational games and interactive learning experiences.We translate curriculum, educational content and learning objectives into compelling game concepts.We develop game mechanics, challenges, progression systems, rewards and feedback loops.We design age-appropriate experiences for children and young learners.We create concepts, prototypes, user journeys and game design documentation.We work closely with product, UX/UI, content, learning and software development teams.We balance educational outcomes with engagement and enjoyment.We support user testing and iterate designs based on feedback from learners and stakeholders.We advise on gamification and how it can be used effectively without distracting from learning outcomes.We provide senior games design expertise and creative direction throughout the programme. We are recruiting an experienced Games Designer / Learning Games Designer for an exciting digital education programme on a short-term, fractional basis. The role is remote and flexible, with an initial duration of 3–6 months and a rate of £500 to £750 per day outside IR35. We are especially interested in people who have designed interactive educational games and digital learning experiences for children and young people, ideally in environments comparable to BBC Bitesize or other leading EdTech, educational publishing and digital learning platforms. We are focused on turning educational content and learning objectives into engaging, intuitive and genuinely enjoyable digital experiences, using game mechanics, storytelling, interaction and reward systems to improve learning, engagement and knowledge retention.
