Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements: We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, such as CKAD, Google Associate Cloud Engineer Certification, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.We require hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.We require advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, or Kotlin.We require advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.We require demonstrated proficiency in software applications and processes within a technical domain such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.We require practical cloud-native experience deploying Kubernetes applications on a cloud service provider such as Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.We require demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations, along with experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.We prefer expertise in the Kubernetes operator pattern.We prefer expertise deploying infrastructure as code using Crossplane, Terraform, or equivalent.We prefer experience with GitOps workflows. Responsibilities: We develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.We develop composable infrastructure systems and capabilities.We identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.We provide operational support for production systems in a you-build-it-you-run-it culture, including incident response and continuous reliability improvements.We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.We lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.We contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.We design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based platform services, automate developer self-service and CI/CD, improve reliability and operational readiness, and strengthen platform security and controls through IaC, policy-as-code, and hardening standards.We drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns.We apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
