Job Description Summary We are seeking a skilled and experienced Site Technician to join our team in a FIFO role based out of Brisbane QLD. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in transformer assembly, maintenance, and field service work.
You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality service solutions to customers by performing on-site transformer inspections, repairs, upgrades, and life extension activities. The role requires a strong focus on safety, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction, while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities
• Perform on-site transformer maintenance, repairs, inspections, and life extension services at customer locations
• Execute transformer assembly and installation tasks in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards
• Diagnose faults and implement effective technical solutions within established procedures
• Conduct routine and non-routine transformer testing, interpreting results to support maintenance decisions
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate service records, technical reports, and documentation for all completed work
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient project execution and service delivery
• Lead and supervise small teams when required, ensuring safe and productive work practices
• Act as the primary on-site interface between the company and the customer, maintaining strong professional relationships
• Communicate technical information clearly to customers and team members, providing guidance and recommendations
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, safety, and service delivery
Qualifications and Experience
• Valid Electrical License (mandatory)
• Proven experience in transformer assembly, maintenance, and field service
• Solid understanding of transformer testing methods and diagnostic techniques
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to complete reports and documentation
• Ability to work in remote FIFO environments and adapt to changing site conditions
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment
• Ability to work both independently and within a structured framework
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to lead small teams and coordinate tasks on-site
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Well-organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, and execute work efficiently
Desired Characteristics
• EWP (Elevated Work Platform) certification
• Working at Heights certification
• Confined Space Entry certification
• Experience with high-voltage equipment and systems
• Familiarity with condition monitoring and advanced diagnostic tools
