About this role
Role Summary We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to validate the performance, safety, and integrity of centrifugal pumps in compliance with API/ISO standards. Key responsibilities include managing test setups, analysing pump performance, overseeing unit testing, monitoring noise/vibration, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Responsibilities: · Ensure all testing complies with safety protocols and industry standards (e.g., API, HI standards). · Analyse test loop setup for pump performance testing and NPSH testing. · Perform hydraulic performance and mechanical testing (vibration, bearing, seal, NPSH) on centrifugal pumps. · Compare actual test results against design specifications and international standards like API 610 or ISO 9906. · Verify alignment, balancing, and fitment clearances of components. · Calculate and plot the testing parameter arrived from pump performance testing, NPSH testing, complete unit testing, mechanical run testing etc. · Study the actual performance test result and calculate impeller trimming and other hydraulic modification to arrive required curve. · Perform hydraulic modification of casing and impeller to achieve the pump performance based on test result. · Analyse and provide the solution for vibration, noise and other mechanical issues. · Develop the data base for the pump testing. · Achieve first pass of pump performance testing. · Inspect the hydraulic parts and analyse the performance testing. · Identify and diagnose root causes of failure or performance discrepancies. · Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to suggest product improvements based on test data Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in centrifugal pump industry
• Demonstrate performance and NPSH testing calculations.
• Expertise in API 610, HI and ISO standards for testing.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration with design/production teams.
• Working knowledge in pump testing will be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings (CAD), NDT methods, and data acquisition systems.
• Demonstrates ability and willingness to collaborate as team player
• Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings, operating manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures
