Pharmacy Technician Base site - Grantham and District Hospital Band 4-5 (depending on experience) 37.5 hours per week (post equaling 1 Whole Time Equivalent) 08:45-17:15 Mon-Fri. 09:30-13:15 Saturday and bank holidays Contract type - Permanent Applications are invited for the post of rotational pharmacy technician based at Grantham and District Hopsital.

The Pharmacy Departments within ULHT provide ward based, Dispensary, and Aseptic Dispensing Services to a range of general and specialist areas including Admissions Unit, General Medical and Surgical, Haematology and Oncology and Critical Care wards. We have a good integrated team of Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians and Support Workers and there is a supportive Pharmacy Education and Training team.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based at Grantham and District Hospital but the successful applicants may need to travel to other sites within the Trust. The successful applicants will be expected to participate in the existing Weekend and Bank Holiday Rotas within the Pharmacy Dispensary.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be confident speaking to patients, nursing staff, prescribers and other health care staff. You will need to have experience working as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community setting. Experience of using pharmacy specific computer systems such as Ascribe or JAC is desirable.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

NVQ/BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent Registered as a pharmacy technician/or ability to register as a Pharmacy Technician Evidence of accuracy checking competency (or ability to work towards)

Previous Experience Essential

Experience working as a Pharmacy Technician (or Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician) in a hospital, retail pharmacy, community, or other environment. Experience working with members of public.

Specific requirements Essential

Maintain accuracy while under pressure. Professional responsible and helpful attitude.

Desirable

Good team player.

Knowledge, Skills & Aptitudes Essential
