About this role

Job summary

The post holder will work within the trusts various wards, and departments to carry out a range of various duties associated within the provision of cleaning, food service and other patient support activities.

This will be over a seven day period, were available shifts will be uploaded to the Rosters app for staff to book.

Main duties of the job

Cleaning duties within the allocated department of work and associated areas in accordance with the departmental cleaning schedule, National Cleaning Standards and including specialist cleaning as required by infection control.Checking equipment to be used and displaying warning signs to comply with the health and safety regulations.Ensuring correct waste segregation disposal procedures in accordance with the Trust policy.Regeneration and serving of food, beverage preparation and associated duties.Distribution and collection of linen to wards and departments and associated laundry duties.Completion of Trust departmental paperwork in accordance with standing instructions.Assistance with Health, Safety, Hygiene and monitoring checks/audits.To observe Food Hygiene Legislation, hospital and client policies and procedures at all times, reporting any faults, defects or operational issues to Supervisor/Manager/Client representative.Engagement with all training programmes/courses relevant to the role.Liaise with Colleagues and Ward Staff to ensure the highest quality of Service possible.

The position is for a band Bank Facilities Assistants covering the different areas at DPT North Devon wards and eternal areas. It is a bank position covering weekends and working 7.5 hours a day. Early shifts will cover from 07:00 to 15:00 and lates will cover 11:30 to 19:30.

They will cover Cleaning and hygiene, Food Service, waste management as main duty and ad hoc jobs requested.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

No experience necessary, however a basic I.T. knowledge, as well as a willingness to gain NVQ, or equivalent qualifications, would be an advantage.

Desirable

Experience of working in a challenging environment, would be an advantage.

Knowledge and skills Essential

Providing and receiving routine information orally, in writing and electronically to assist in understanding own job. Judgements involving straight forward facts or situations. Able to cope with a sometimes unpredictable environment. Moderate physical abilities require to carry out this post. Food service delivery of meals to service users (obtained through training and good practice)

Desirable

Hospital cleaning techniques. Food Hygiene / Safety. Able to organise own day to day work task obtained through good practice.

Qualifications Essential

QCF level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality/cleaning and support services, or willing to work towards achieving qualification Basic IT Skills

Desirable

Level 1 Food Hygiene.
