About this role

Job summary

Dorset County Hospital are recruiting Band 3 Therapy assistant bank workers. This opportunity is ideal for experienced NHS trained individuals or undergraduate physiotherapy/occupational therapy students living in the Dorchester and surrounding Dorset area who are looking to gain valuable clinical experience, develop their therapy skills across a variety of specialties, and enjoy the flexibility of bank working.

Dorset County Hospital therapy department covers different specialities across multiple sites including; Dorset County Hospital, Yeatman Hospital and out-patient sites at Weymouth Community Hospital and Charlton Down Out-patient Therapy Centre. The post holder may be required to work at any of the sites within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will assist in treating a wide variety of clinical conditions and work alongside both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, delivering rehabilitation and assisting in the safe and timely discharge of patients and assisting with classes as necessary.

We provide supervision within the team and have training provided for therapy assistants. You are encouraged to develop through appraisals and Continual Professional Development.

The post holder will assist in the administration and clerical duties for the team and Department.

Once considered competent, to participate in the week-end, bank holiday and extended working rotas where clinically appropriate.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training Essential

Good level of education to GCSE level, including Maths & English (Grade C/equivalent or above.) NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level in healthcare or be willing to work towards To be able to drive a car

Knowledge & Experience Essential

Relevant experience (minimum 1 year) of working as a therapy/nursing assistant or similar post Experience of working with direct contact with the public.

Skills & Abilities Essential

To have ability to work on own initiative and to be confident to work without direct supervision To have ability to learn new skills to deliver patient care as instructed by qualified members of staff To be able to work within the multidisciplinary team To be able to prioritise own workload To be aware of own limitations

To partake in data collection Experience with IT systems Ability to compete allocated projects and meet deadlines
